This is a picture of the old smallpox hospital on Roosevelt Island in New York City. It is usually guarded, so one could imagine some form of supernatural life inhabiting it and spurning a guard to investigate. It is one of the most beautiful and spookiest places in the City.
If you happen to be in the area, check it out, and after you're done, take the air-tram back to the city; it takes the metro card and you get a great view from 30 stories up.
